IT’S SUMMER. THE TIME THAT NOBODY THOUGHT WOULD COME IS HERE! Took these pictures here in Amsterdam the other day at the Hortus Botanicus. Unbelievable!
This week in instagram photos, you can find me under IEFKEDEROOS!
Just got back from a short (business)trip to India. Two days in Delhi and one in Mumbai and that was it. But it felt like a week and just driving around in the car we saw the most amazing things. I’ve been begging for a holiday in India for as long as I can remember and after this little preview I am going back from sure.

Watching ‘Big Easy Express’ on television and finding pictures of Jade wearing my dress again. Still makes me happy!
New York in Pink (Rugs).
Went on a shopping trip to New York last week! Skipped the blizzard, enjoyed the winter sun and thanked the weather gods for dry/warm feet!
Some time ago I announced a change, but never got back to it. That’s because the change is keeping me pretty busy. December 1st I started working as a designer for the Dutch brand Maison Scotch. My first day of work was meeting my new fellow workers at the airport for a full week of sample approving/adjusting in Hong Kong. Since then I’ve been busy at the Amsterdam office enjoying every moment of it. I will travel to Berlin, New York and Paris all in the first 2 months of the new year. Because this is a full time job I still have to figure out if there will be any time for my own collection or freelance work. But good news is that my ideas will now be broadcast to a massive audience! Let’s see how that goes.
(These are some images from Maison Scotch seasons past)
Lady Di does it again! I discovered this website yesterday. It shows all Diana’s jewels, split into cool groups like tiaras, diamonds, pearls and other every day minerals. The website also taught me that in the picture with the double watches, Diana is watching Prince Charles play a polo match and is wearing his watch. Pretty romantic for those two..
The Elementary Penguins is my boyfriends band. I sometimes make some graphics and photos for them. At the moment they are getting quite a bit of attention with their first single ‘Everybody Knows My Name (Especially On The Dance Floor)’, which I made the video for. Please check them out and spread the word (and perhaps LIKE them on FB).
Some changes are on their way. It took a lot of thinking, sighing and nervous days when all I wanted to do was crawl up under a blanket and sleep. A lot of encouraging talks with my boyfriend and a lot of pondering with my head in my hands. But a change is gonna come.. (more soon!).
I want never gets.
These photos of the Rolling Stones were recently found at a flea market. Between old photos of random people, the faces of Keith Richards & Mick Jagger must have been a hell of a surprise, making the finder melt on the spot. Major swoon.
Who would have ever thought that these stylish hands belonged to Princess Diana? What was her idea behind the double watch? It makes this look so much more interesting. It makes me wonder what time the extra watch is on. Probably the time in a dream destination far away from her scam marriage!
Made a video for ‘Elementary Penguins’ featuring some of the best Northern Soul dancing I’ve ever seen.

TURNED OUT by Maya is my absolute favorite style site. The girls and their clothes are out if this world. If one day I see one of my designs pop up here I would be over the moon. Talking about the moon: need that shirt in photo 2.
While in China I had the first professional nail session of my life. We had to convince the nail artist that the all seeing eye was a good idea and possible, a big struggle. That’s Tang I’m holding, my friends hamster who is famous and mentioned all through China.
Love a bit of tacky beadwork done in a sweet ‘do it yourself’ style. Just found these on my desktop, must have saved them before the holiday although I have no memory of doing so and happily fell for them again.
Just got back from a trip to China! We visited Hangzhou, Moganshan, Shanghai, Xi’an, Qingdao and Beijing. Swam in a reservoir, the ocean and a pool. Ate Chinese, Indian and Korean food. Saw skyscrapers, mountains and the wall. All in all I instagrammed China to bits.
Perfect weather for a Picknick at Hanging Rock.
As mentioned earlier: I used to be a houseplant bully. I really had no love for the idea of keeping plants inside and many family plant ended up dying in the bitter cold. Plants and cats: my two great hates of the past. Seems that the key to a good house full of plants is windows. And lots of them. Must keep that in mind if I ever have to move again.
Catlady coolness. Patti Smith & cats.
Tomorrow: BEACH TIME!
A little piece in Happinez magazine this month. Happy days.
Starting to feel kind of desperate for some sand between my toes. Or wherever it wants to go at this point. But did you know this is what sand looks like under a microscope? Holy moly me oh my! Makes long walks on the beach so much more interesting.
During this worst-summer-known-to-man, my bed could easily become my best friend. Early hibernation is constantly on my mind. And like I’ve mentioned before during a rambling about Frida Kahlo: make your bed a nice place. Next project: tie-dye bedding. Happy thoughts can creep in during the night.
This weekend my friend Femke got married in a little village called Holysloot. I made her dress and this little jacket for her to wear. We braided her hair across and around her head and stuck fresh flowers in it. She looked like a romantic version of Frida Kahlo. Minus the facial hair.
Wrapping up a handdyed pillow to send off to it’s new owner. This dip-dye in pinks and blues reminds me of cottoncandy. Or candyfloss, as I’m sure my boyfriend would prefer me to say.
Jade Castrinos of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zero’s wearing my Amethyst dress while singing her heart out at the carnival. Lovely!
Revisiting old prints while getting inspired for some new ones!
The Pitto video I did the styling for is finally out (see my previous post!)!
Moonrise Kingdom is finally playing at the pictures! GO SEE IT! It’s beautiful and funny and endearing and exciting all at the same time.
Dying fabric like a crazy person. Soon my hands will look something like this.
My little niece and nephew hiking in the mountains wearing t-shirts I made for them. Especially like the double dandelion by Rover. If only Indy caught a butterfly (and let it go)!
Laying in bed with a bad cold and a fever can feel like being in a Michel Gondry film. These stills from The Science of Sleep are what the last few days have been like for me in my bed. Looks pretty magical, doesn’t feel it though.
